Mmmmm Strawberries!

Want this?

Well, you need to find a local u-pick strawberry farm.
And get a cute girl to pick strawberries for you!

Make sure you teach her how to find the right berries.  My kiddo plucked about 50 of what I would call miniberries.  You will see her handiwork a picture below.

We had to dodge a few wasps and bees.  This is hard work.

Walk up and down row after row until you fill basket after basket.

One quart (piled high) is only 50 cents!!!!

I love strawberries!!!
I couldn't stop picking them.
We ended up with 8 quart size containers of juicy strawberries.

You may even pick a flower off the plant.  Katie wanted to know all about how strawberries grow.  This flower started the talk.  First a flower and later a bright red juicy berry.  God is amazing!!!!

Make sure you wash them several times.

Fill a bowl after you dry them a bit.

Oh, here's Katie's favorite strawberry.
See she likes things that are little, like her.
When we picked out a pumpkin last year she wanted the little cutie ones NOT the big honkers.
She told us that she is little and needs little things.
So, if you take my girl strawberry picking you will find some of these "hard-for-Katie-to-resist-miniberries" mixed in your quarts.

Katie loved every step of the process and helped me the whole time.
She had no problem eating it either!

Oh Yes, it was that good!!!!
And I ate it twice today.

Our Day With Isaac

Perhaps, I should not post a picture of my nephew crying....., BUT it gets better.  We ate lunch and he's wearing some milk.  Then, Isaac decided, "You are not my mommy or my daddy!"

He proceeded to cry...ma ma ma mama...

But, then Aunt Krista caught his attention!

"Hey, I can be silly" he thought.

(And yes, I was being a dork.  Moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and grandparents included will do just about anything goofy to cheer up a child.)  Suddenly, Isaac was happy...and so cute.  Perhaps it was the camera?

Silly boy!

Ah, he found a naked baby.  Most of our 'babies' are naked.

Sweet baby....

Yep, I think he's ready.  Big brother in the making!

Piano Anyone?

Katie and Eli playing the piano.

Katie, Eli, AND Isaac playing the piano!  We are sure to have some musical kids in this family.  Hopefully, Katie will develop a love for piano since my sister in law can give her lessons.
All we need now is....well, a piano!

Look at her fingers.  I love that she looks like she "knows" what she is doing.

Just Another Fun Day in the Life of Katie!

After church a couple of weeks ago we were invited over to have dinner with Eliud's parents.  We got there first so I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and get some pretty pictures of my girl all dressed up.

I used a very retro edit on this picture.  It has been a long time since I took the time to edit a picture and a REALLY long time since I just sat and "played" with Photoshop.  Enjoy my quirky edits!

We soon ate lunch on the back porch.  It was such a pretty day.  Ruth has some really pretty flowers out there and I just HAD to try a close up shot.  I guess I love the challenge and enjoy having a camera that can get all the little details.

After lunch while we waited for our next big activity Katie found paper and pen.  This kid is so intrinsicly driven.  She loves to write....and write some more.  And of course I do encourage it!  She has just picked up reading about a month or two ago.  She can read just about any Dick and Jane book I have.  Although, I did just buy her a new one that is much harder.  I was hoping that she would start reading by the age of five.  (You know that inner mommy desire that you don't tell anyone in case it doesn't happen?)  Well, before she was even 4 and half she was reading.  I'm thrilled and so excited to start Kindergarten with her in the Fall.

Strike a pose!

That was a strange transition..... But we went to the TECO energy plant because they have a manatee observatory there.  We looked for manatees.....

Eli (my nephew) looked and looked.  Abuela looked too.

No manatees!  But plenty of fish.  It was a gorgeous day.  The sun shimmered on the water like diamonds.  It was a little hot too.  Hopefully next year we will see the manatees.

See, it was really pretty!

Who's That Girl?

Last month, we visited a local farm that grows and sells fruits and vegetables.  They have some chickens and a bison too.  It is a quaint little farm.  Katie loved seeing the animals especially on top of her daddy's shoulders.

Yes, this is what I get when I take my camera out.  COME ON!!

And yes, the sideview......

little baby blueberries (my favorite)

onions......

Either she has dirty fingers or she is counting....

Katie loves hanging out with her daddy.
And did you notice???...Katie has pretty hot pink glasses!
